Kids vs. adults: what’s different?
Our teachers treat every student as a unique person with unique needs. In general, kids are a little less picky about the quality of their sound, the precision of their technique and the steadiness of their rhythm which can lead to sloppy playing. Adults, on the other hand, tend to be a bit too critical of their playing, which can hold them back from progressing psychologically. In the end, however, we've seen hundreds of kids, teens and adults learn the guitar very well. You just need a teacher who understands how to get each student to the next small goal. At Mosaic Music, there really is no age limit. You just have to start.
Acoustic or electric—does it matter?
Every guitar player should play an acoustic instrument. Acoustic guitars build finger strength, establish your core technique and are easy to practice anywhere. Electric guitars are somewhat easier on the fingers, but they employ a very different set of tone controls and can lead to a downgrade of your technique in general.
Keep this in mind: EVERY amazing electric guitar player masters the acoustic guitar first. And, EVERY amazing electric guitar player consistently returns to their acoustic guitar to keep their technique strong and healthy.
